Modern Signed First Editions

The Proprietor of “First Editions” is literary scholar and long time collector of antiquarian and rare books, Allan Gregory, who graduated from University College Dublin with a BA (Hons) in English and Irish and a Masters degree in Anglo-Irish Literature and Drama. His Phd thesis is on commonality in literary translation.

His poem Some Other Place, written in Irish, was Ireland’s contribution to the SYMPOSIUM ON PEACE FOR THE MILLENIUM at Roma Tre University in August, 2000, and has been published in Irish, English and Italian.

Other literary works include Remembering Remembering Michael Hartnett (Four Courts Press, 2006), with an introduction by Nobel Laureate, Seamus Heaney and Byron’s Orientalism {Cambridge Scholar’s Press, 2006}, and Byron’s Religions{Cambridge Scholar’s Press, 2011}, edited by Dr. Peter Cochran.

He is a regular participant at International Byron conferences lecturing particularly on the literary relationship between Lord Byron and Thomas Moore. He is Chairman of the Irish Byron Society.
