At noon on Easter Monday, April 24th 1916, a handful of Irish volunteers slipped through the guard of the British and took up positions on the Dublin streets. They commandeered the post offices and cut the wires to England. They ran up a flag – a green flag with a golden harp in the centre. Written across it in bold Gaelic lettering, half-gold half white were the words IRISH REPUBLIC. Collector’s Item.
