This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. Tynan was born into a large farming family in Clondalkin, County Dublin, and educated at St. Catherine’s, a convent school in Drogheda. Her poetry was first published in 1878.
